READY TO BUILD
Thanks to the support of some generous donors, in February Tamar’s Hope become the proud owner of a beautiful, large empty lot of overgrown weeds, broken toilets and cinder block debris. We are so excited about the new possibilities!
And now, after several months of drafting proposals and having an architectural firm navigate through all the red tape with local authorities, we’re ready once again to come to you with the next phase of our fundraising campaign.
OUR DREAM IS TO BUILD A 3200 sq ft MINISTRY CENTRE RIGHT SMACK IN THE MIDDLE OF LA LINEA
It will be a three story building complete with a main open meeting area for our drop-in centre and routine activities; meeting rooms for workshops, adult education, clinics, counseling and more; and office space for our future staff. Our vision for the centre is to not only serve the hundreds of sexually exploited women working in the immediate area, but to also be a strategic central location to reach into many other red-light districts throughout Guatemala City.
The proposed budget of $297,000 CDN ($232,000 USD) includes the complete building, furnishings, security wall and a landscaped courtyard. Because of the concrete and cinder block style construction, we are able to build one level at a time. So the good news is we can start using funds almost immediately as they come in and have some functional space just as soon as we have at least the main level complete. Isn’t that great?!
And to start things off, an anonymous donor has already come forward to pledge a matching amount for the first $30,000 USD raised!
Ready, go. Thanks for your generosity!
