UNDER CONSTRUCTION

THE DREAM TO COMPLETE OUR 3200 sq ft MINISTRY CENTRE RIGHT SMACK IN THE MIDDLE OF LA LINEA IS COMING TRUE!

The first of three stories was completed in June 2022 and has been fully functional ever since as the main open meeting area for our drop-in centre and routine activities.  Then after a 2-year hiatus to get all the right paperwork in order with the city, we continued onto the second level which is currently being used for workshops, adult education, and clinics. As of the end of 2024, the roof and exterior walls of the third story are finished as well. Once the rest of the funding is in place, we’ll complete all the interior finishings for counseling rooms and office space for our future staff.  Our vision for the centre is to not only serve the hundreds of sexually exploited women working in the immediate area, but also to be a strategic central location to reach into many other red-light districts throughout Guatemala City.

The proposed budget of $397,000 CDN ($298,000 USD) includes the complete building and furnishings.  Because of the concrete and cinder block style construction, we are able to build one small step at a time as funds come in. It’s so great to be already using what we do have to serve the many women from La Linea. And they are as excited as we are to continue on with the final phases!
